Counting calories works for some people...looks like it worked for your mom. But counting calories doesn't work for everybody. Also 1500 calories is appropriate for some people, but not all. Eating right and losing weight is definitely a lifestyle choice. It all starts with changing your mindset, then other changes to eat right will be easier to implement.

Going to the gym together or going for walks together is a great idea! But if you are like many of my clients who don't have support with your inner circle, you can attend my FREE conference call entitled "How to Stay Motivated To Lose Weight When Your Spouse Is Not Supportive". See my website www.eathealthycoach.com for details!

I think you make some very valid points. Support is one of the things my coaching programs provide...not just because it's the right thing to do for my clients, but it is needed because a lot of my clients do not have a support system at home. This is why your suggestions to join a gym with him/her, keep healthy foods around, etc. are great first steps to providing support!

have you tried calorie-counting? My mom is a deiabtic and needs to loose major pounds... her Dr. suggested calorie-counting (it's been three months and she has lost 40 pounds!!)... search calorie counters on google (or yahoo) and you can type in a food... and it will give you the amount of calories in that food! I would suggest cutting your calorie intake down to a maximum of 1500 calories per day... it isn't easy... but tell yourself 'this is a lifestyle choice'. also record your calories on a notebook or computer... it will help you!GOOD LUCK! Was this answer helpful?

um you don't. you could try suggesting going to the gym oteethgr or going for walks. Make it sound like a fun activity that you want to do with her. Or tell her you feel like you need to lose some weight or get into shape and see if she will offer to help and go to the gym with you. trust me girls have enough body issues, and the one person they look to for comfort is people their close to. she would be very mad if you told her she was fat. also try steering her away from junk food by eating it yourself. if she sees you doing it with her she won't suspect anything. girls can be manipulative, you just have to learn to play the same game

You don't. Ever.Go on long walks with her. Join a gym and tell her it'd be a lot more fun for you if she would come and work out with you, or even just hang out and keep you company. More than liekly, it'd be boring for her to just sit around while you work out, so she'd be liekly to do some sort of working out of her own to pass the time. Keep healthy foods around but don't try to cram them down her throat. Don't sit there eating double cheese pizza and buffalo wings and try to push some celery over to her. DO NOT tell her she needs to lose weight. DON'T tell her what to eat. DO NOT sit there while she orders a cheeseburger and say something like " You sure you don't want the salad?"Don't try to drop hints. Guys aren't good at it like women are.
